1 WIRIS Plugin for Moodle installation

1.1 Introduction

The WIRIS plugin for Moodle is a bridge between the Moodle platform and the WIRIS components.

You can either use the WIRIS plugin as a tool to insert mathematical formulas in Moodle's HTML Editor, or use it to insert WIRIS CAS applets. Each of these two functionalities is optional and completely independent of the other: you must choose which one you want to install and integrate with your Moodle platform.

Before installing this plugin you must be sure to have a legal copy of the needed WIRIS components installed at one of your servers or to have a legal access to them. You do not need all the components, but those used by the desired functionality. WIRIS Formula Image Service and WIRIS Editor are the components needed for the formula's edition; WIRIS CAS is needed for applet insertion.

1.2 Prerequisites

• Moodle 1.6 or higher installed.
• WIRIS Plugin package.
• A valid license to install the plugin in a production environment; otherwise, you can use the downloaded file just for demo purposes. To acquire the full rights license, please contact to info@wiris.com or visit www.wiris.com.

1.3 Starting

Unzip WIRIS Plugin package on your moodle’s root directory. Now, you have two ways:

• Install WIRIS Plugin using the automatic installer (recommended).
• Install WIRIS Plugin manually (not recommended).
